JASPER Awards Contest Rules

Eligible entries for the 37th Annual JASPER Awards include communication tools that have been developed for a New Jersey-based company or by a New Jersey-based agency between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011. Local adaptations of national campaigns are not eligible.

All entries are the property of JSPRAA and cannot be returned. JSPRAA is not responsible for the loss of any submitted entry.

Rules for Entry

  1. Do not send original art.
  2. Submit printed reproductions, photos, or tear sheets, unless otherwise noted under the category listing.
  3. Campaigns should be taped together or placed in a large plastic bag.
  4. Do not mount or mat entries, but submit them in suitable condition and format for hanging.
  5. Submit one or more screen shots along with the URL for all electronic media submissions.
  6. Submit television and video entries on CD or DVD; radio entries on CD.
  7. You may submit only ONE entry per numbered category.
  8. Any one project may be submitted in more than one category. (Must create multiple entries for each category)
  9. All media relations, public relations and special event planning entries must be accompanied with an Entry Overview, which can be downloaded here.
  10. Entries that are not properly labeled according to the official guidelines will not be judged. An entry label MUST be attached to each entry and each entry MUST be entered in the proper category.
  11. The JASPER Awards Committee reserves the right to re-categorize or disqualify, without notification, any project entered improperly.
  12. All submissions must be registered online.

Online Entry Instructions

All submissions must be registered online.

  1. Visit http://awards.jspraa.com to access the Electronic Entry System.
  2. Register for a username and password by clicking the User Registration link in the navigation menu.
  3. Once registered, you will be automatically logged in. Click the "Submit Entries" link under the Quick Links menu.
  4. Determine the most appropriate category for each entry.
  5. Fill out the Entry Submission form for each entry
  6. You can also optionally purchase a Sponsorship from your account page.
  7. When you've finished submitting your entries, return to your account page ( http://awards.jspraa.com/account ) and click the "Pay for Purchases" link under the Quick Links menu.
  8. Choose your payment method. You can either pay instantly via PayPal or send a check.
  9. Once payment is complete, print the confirmation page.
  10. Return to your account page and click the "Print Entry Labels" link under the Quick Links menu. Once on the labels page, click the "Print" button. Each label will print on its own page to avoid labels being cut off.
  11. Prepare each entry according to presentation specifications listed.
  12. Attach each individual entry label to the back of its respective entry.
  13. Enclose the Payment Confirmation printout with payment in a separate envelope marked "Entry Fees & Summary" along with your entries.

Finalist Notification

Contestants who receive a Gold or Silver award are considered finalists. All finalists will be notified no later than August 31, 2011 via email. Finalist notices will not indicate whether a Gold or a Silver award is being presented. This information will remain confidential until it is announced at the JASPER Awards Banquet on Friday, October 14, 2011.

REMEMBER! Finalists will be required to provide a digital image of their winning entries for use in the awards presentation. Instructions regarding how to do so will be included in the finalist notification.

Reduced Entry Fees

In order to receive the prices below, entries must be both submitted and paid for by the date indicated. If you submit an entry before July 29, but don't pay for it until July 30, you'll pay the Extended Registration price instead of the In-Time Registration price.

Payment

Fees will be accepted one of two ways:

  1. Online via PayPal (Visa, MC, Amex, eCheck, PayPal Transfer)
  2. Check (included with delivered entries). Make checks payable to JSPRAA.

About the Judging

The JASPER Awards judging panel consists of credible experts in advertising, public relations, graphic design and communications industries. Judges are not JSPRAA members, nor are they clients of or agencies working with JSPRAA. Judging criteria is outlined in each entry category. Entries must meet a minimum score of excellence to be considered. Based upon the judges' scores, one Gold and one Silver prize will be awarded in each category. However, if entries do not meet the minimum requirement score, no awards will be presented in that category. In cases where there are two winning entries with equal scores, the judges will present two awards.

All judges' decisions are final.
